Legacy Portraits

"Take pictures...often.  Even if you 'think' you don't look good...when you are gone, your family and friends will want pictures of you."  -George "Poppo"  Markel (my grandpa)

After my grandma passed away, my family began gathering photos of her.  We wanted to create a video for her memorial service.  I quickly realized that we had lots and lots of photos from when she was younger, but as she grew older, she just wasn't in a lot of the photos.  Sometimes, she declined being in photos...saying things like, "Oh, you don't want a photo of me...just get the kids."  The truth is, sometimes, we get so focused on the kids, that we forget about photos of parents and grandparents.

Legacy portraits are inspired by that quote at the top by my "Poppo".  It is my desire to capture mothers and fathers...grandmas and grandpas...great aunts and uncles...the people who don't necessarily think they need to be in the photo.  The ones who, all too soon, will no longer be physically with us.  I love having the opportunity to create beautiful images that will evoke loving memories for years to come.
